Hundreds of public workers rallied outside the Statehouse in Trenton on Tuesday to protest an almost 25 % rate hike for health benefits. For someone making $1,000 per pay period, their healthcare costs would go up nearly $250 each paycheck.

A state commission that sets the yearly rates is poised to vote on the proposal Wednesday at a 9 a.m. meeting. It comes as healthcare costs surge across the country.
