Jersey City ceasefire resolution fails in city council amid protests over Gaza conflict

Jersey City Municipal Council failed to pass a resolution on Dec. 6 calling for a ceasefire in Gaza despite pleas from some community members. 

Supporters said the primarily symbolic resolution would demonstrate New Jersey’s second-largest city’s commitment to a peaceful solution in Gaza following the Oct. 7 attack carried out by Hamas in Israel.
